Tips and tricks
Cross selling
Some products sell better than others. To promote slow moving products, pair them up with top selling items in a special package for a special price. This is easily done in facilePOS by combining separate items into an itemkit. Promote them in a flyer or in a special display in the store. This way more customers can try the slow moving products and perhaps turn them into top selling products.
Don't tell, just answer
When you want to inform your customers try to give them answers instead of just a story. People are more interested when they hear information they asked for. So try to guide your customers into asking the questions you want to give answers to.
Follow your finances
Everyone knows that a business has to watch not only where his money comes in but also where it goes out. But as a passionate retailer this is not always the most interesting part of running a business. But facilePOS can help you make it a bit more easy. With reports you can keep an overview of your sales and on the stock page you can keep track of your inventory. As easy as that.
Let your body do the selling
A lot of retailers pay attention to the look of their store and the sharpness of the clothes of themselves and their employees. But don't forget the body language of the people your customers interact with. With an open attitude and a smile a sale is so much easier.
Learn from history
Customers want to feel special. Try to greet them in a personal way and try to make a small compliment. Even better, try to remember them and their stories. Of course this is easier said than done, but you could have a quick peek in your facilePOS system to see what the customer has bought in the past. So you could ask if the product delivered as promised or suggest products based on the customers preference (based on past sales).
Across shop selling
Next to cross selling products in your own shop you can look outside your shop for smart combinations. If you sell products or services that match well with products or services from other shops in your neighbourhood, why not work together. You can give out coupons that are valid in both your stores for the matching products or you can put flyers in each other's shop, promoting the other ones products.
Sell with a story
As said in a previous tip, try to answer questions instead of giving information. But answers are there in different categories. Try to squeeze in an image in your answer. Sketch the image that the customer can expect when he acquires the product or service. The more concrete the image is, the better the customer knows if this is what he needs. And if his expectations are met by the product he will be more satisfied.
Reward loyal customers
In facilePOS it is really easy to track the loyalty of your customer. You can see on the customer page how often and for which amount the client buys. And if the clients are nice to you, it would be a great idea to be nice to your loyal customers as well. You can send them discount coupons which you create in facilePOS. Or have a drawing among the loyal customers. You can select all these names in facilePOS and export them to excel. Then select the winning customer out of the list on a, beforehand chosen number, row. As easy as that.
Let people hear from you
If there is something notable happening in your store, let people hear from you! Put an advertisement in the local newspaper, send a newsletter, send out a press release or show up in local radio or television shows. If you want to put up some extravaganza, create an event in your own store. Loyal customers appreciate the extra attention and people that never set a foot in your store might show up to have a peek because of the generated buzz.
Satisfied customers are not enough
Of course every retailer wants satisfied customers. But research shows that this is not enough and that satisfied customers are still likely to take their business elsewhere. Because they think other business can satisfy them as well. As a retailer you need to 'wow' your customer by going the extra mile. Doing what the customer doesn't expect. Give a little present every now and then, remember the birthday of your clients, open the door, carry the groceries to the car. When you use facilePOS your sales administration is that easy that you save time to really invest in your clients, to go the extra mile. As easy as that.
